In Residence March 2010
Mervin Jarman is a an artist, programmer, and co-ordinator of Mongrel, Jamaica. During his time in Broken Hill, he coordinated his I-Street Lab - technology in a wheelie bin - as a means for disenfranchised youth in Broken Hill locked out of the mainstream to gain strength without getting locked into power structures. In 2010 Mervin participated in the Broken Hill Art Exchange Sustainable Horizons And Public Engagement (S.H.A.P.E) project supported by Arts NSW. As part of this project he conducted a workshop with youth at Mission Australia Broken Hill.
In 2011 Mervin Jarman will be returning to Broken Hill Art Exchange as part of the national roll out of iStreet Lab in Australia. In Broken Hill Mervin's project is proudly supported by the Broken Hill Community Foundation and Regional Development Australia. Other local partnerships for this project are developing and welcome.
